Sword practice
Jeb didn't work on Monday and I did, but he wanted to go to sword practice at Aneri's house with me afterwards and take pictures. So I printed the address and door-to-door directions for both of us - his coming from Everett, mine from Redmond. He had his GPS to use and I didn't, but the directions looked clear enough, a 30 minute trip tops, so I wasn't worried.
HA! I should have been.
An hour after I left work and well south of my mark, I finally parked at Green Lake park and called Jeb for help. He doesn't like driving in Seattle either, but he knows it well all the same so was able to redirect me.
A half an hour later, I'm driving down another street thinking I'd followed the directions right but still feeling lost as I look anxiously for Aneri's house.
Jeb honks and waves from his car parked onthe margin as I drive by. *Le SIGH!*
So here are some of the pictures he took that I didn't ruin TOO badly:

L-R: Katia, me, Kerri, Fateen, Rachel, and Aneri
I know (*CRINGE*) too much belly. I should get it surgically removed or something if I'm going to be dancing with all these gazelles... or maybe get a really tight girdle to wear instead of letting it fall free. Of course, it would help if I just kept my pelvis in the upright position. MUST remember to do that at the very least.
It was a nice evening though. It felt good to be dancing outside with the other women in that warm golden light.

Wow, those are some awesome pictures!! It looks very interesting, almost like some kind of yoga, but with swords =]
@crazy2love - Thank you. It's belly dancing with swords. But yeah, it's fun. I loves it!
Wow that is really cool!
I think it is really special, beauty and grace in a lovely pastoral setting, no wonder hubby went to photograph. Thank him for me for sharing. It's very nice to see.
By the way, I did some research, and the proper name for the type of sword you are using is a tulwar.

Gorgeous & fun! I took a short belly dancing class with my sister and learned that I needed a whole bunch more classes. :(
nice pic
Loved listening to your music A.
Too bad you were turned around in your directions. At least you got to Aneri's house in good time to take part. The pictures are very good. I wish I could see you dance someday.
I have sword practice too, though mine is a bit different. I use a variety of training implements instead of a sword (a bokken, iron bars, rubber training knives) and I use a variety of techniques taken from kendo, ascrima, and Western fencing as well as some things I came up with independently. It's martial arts rather than dance, though the line between the two can sometimes be fuzzy.
I really dig the whole sword-dancing thing. It's pretty awesome.
@LadyboyRevolution - It's fun too. I'd recommend it to anyone.
@JadeMaster2 - I did and he says you're welcome. It was such a nice evening out after I finally found my way there!
@tracy - We all do! Even the professionals come back to basic over and over again to keep up to snuff.
@ANVRSADDAY - It was indeed a lot of fun.
@James2012 - Thank you.
@ZSA_MD - You mean my play list? Thank you. Wish I could still have it posted here. And maybe you will see me dance some day.
@Nous_Apeiron - I'm loving it! The minute I was told I'd be able to join the troupe and learn the sword dance, I ran right out to buy my sword, not willing to wait for one to be provided to much later on, always insisting on practicing with my sword, not the scabbard, even if it does pommel me on the head now and then. I have a hard head. Your sword practice sounds fun too. Back when I was in college, I was going to take fencing for one of my PE credits but they pulled the course at the last second and I haven't seen it offered anywhere since except at the Renn Faires if that counts. You're lucky to have found the course you did.
@Ampbreia - I like your style. Practicing with the real thing is always more effective,
It's really too bad that they pulled the course. I am trying to join the fencing club at my university right now, but it's apparently on hiatus because they don't have enough members to do anything according to university guidelines.
You looked awesome! Great Pics:)
Looks like fun :)
Lookin' good. :D
@Poledancer_Samantha - Thank you. I'll tell Jeb you said so.
@Shining_Garnet - It is!
@Korena_Love - You should come some time. Katia has a little 4-year-old she always brings. I'm betting him and Levi would really hit it off. They have the same sort of disposition. Tommorrow morning, if all goes well, it will be at Howarth Park.
