Regarding Pro life conservatives...
I loved George Carlin! He had quite the way with words: succinct and to the point, never kowtowing to attempted censure or letting anyone dictate what he was supposed to say or think. He always thought very clearly and expressed himself the same way.
I was very lucky to have him as a friend on My Space for a few years before he died. He was always very sweet, but never minced words about ANYthing, LOL. He continued to speak his mind honestly from the other side of the veil after he passed... not to me; I think it was Sylvia Browne that took his first correspondences from there. I don't remember, it's been a few years, but look at this; even in his older commentary he's right on cue with current events:

It makes you wonder what Conservatives really value beyond their own power. Is it really about life? If so, then why not the life that's already here?
Some people just like to mind other's people's business, I think. Well people like George will always call them out on it. He rocks!
Seriously though, I was in Iran when I was gang raped by a group of Afghan
trashteenagers and thereby impregnated - contrary to what the unbelievably moronic Senator Akins professes to believe. That was in 1982/83...?Two things about Islamic/Sharia Law there at the time is that...
1. Any sex on/by a married woman outside of marriage there is adultery and punishable by death by stoning (mostly for the women - men are often excused on account of the act not being witnessed by 4 Muslim men). This charge can be dismissed by the husband if he chooses to, acknowledging that she was not a willing party.
This isn't easy for him, however, since usually in cases of rape, others cognizant of it will say it was the woman's own and sole fault for having an imperfect hijab, her "gaseous pheromones" having the chance to escape and drive the rapist mindless, incapable of resisting her, or the mere fact that she was without an escort at the time.
The other consideration is that if the woman is impregnated by the rapist(s), it is death for her for sure if her husband doesn't claim the baby as his own. She will be arrested and kept in jail under constant observation until she gives birth and then will be executed, the child given into the foster system as adoption itself is considered "unIslamic." This is true in most hardline Islamic nations.
My husband did not wish to accept the baby and I even less so under the circumstances (leading to an overdose of aspirin as an alternative to legal abortion that caused near fatal hemorrhaging) but he didn't want to see me stoned to death either, so divorced me and sent me back to the U.S. Anyway...
2. Birth control practiced by a woman - any kind of contraceptive, abstinence, D & C, prophylactics, or abortion at any stage of development - is punishable by death.
Yet while the bearded apes called "Mullahs" were protecting all unborn and even potential babies from any chance of rejection by the host bodies known as women, they were also pouring much energy and resources into the Iran-Iraq war as well as protecting the Islamic Revolution from being overturned. One of the ways they did this was to prevent gatherings of men or boys of more than two in the parks from age 9 on up. If a boy of 9 or older should be found playing with more than a single friend in a public park, it was called potentially fomenting counter revolution and the boys would be picked up by the secret police, transported to the front lines. There they were given a plastic gold key to Paradise, their meeting forgiven, if only they would walk across a field toward Iraq with other captured children.
These were mine fields of course. This is how conservatives value life. This is how conservatives value children. I think they're all f*cked in the head or simply power mongers and either way have no business telling women what to do with our bodies. Just saying...

@secretbeerreporter - I agree with you there... but they don't; either that or they're being deliberately deceitful.
You are right the Conservatives have no right to tell what a woman should be doing with her body.
I am so sorry for what you went through been raped and then rejected by your husband. Having escaped from that, and then to hear these moronic politicians play mind games here really would infuriate me.
@angys_coco - Thank you. Glad to know I'm not alone in feeling that way about it.
I really think you deserved a much better life. You turned out wonderfully though. You impress me.
This is a great post! This post should be in the number 1 spot on the front explore page. Unfortunately xanga readers do not value intelligence so that's why I rarely ever look at the explore page anymore. But I am glad I did this time.
I could go on and on about how I agree with this post but that would be way too many words.
Rec'ed because I think others should read this perspective.
@lucylwrites - @JadeMaster2 - @LadyboyRevolution - Thank you.
